The Opening Doors Project is about “opening up doors” and spaces for newcomers and people who have experienced challenges with mental health. This project, funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, was initiated by the Toronto branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association in partnership with Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services and Across Boundaries.
Since April 2010, The Opening Doors Project has been providing free workshops about mental health and wellness, mental health stigma, settlement stress, anti-racism and discrimination in and around the GTA and the rest of Ontario. As researchers, advocates, health promoters and frontline workers we can always use help to support communities and clients challenge these systemic barriers.
