Outcome Based Management

D 10. How Do you Tell your Performance Story? Introduction to the Concepts and Practices of Performance Measurement

Level: Intermediate / Advanced

All funding bodies have moved or are moving to Outcome-Based Performance Management. But what does that mean for how you manage, deliver and report on the performance of your settlement programs?

Using a combination of lecture, case study, group work and facilitated discussion, this intensive workshop will:

  • Share the fundamentals and increase your knowledge of Outcome-Based Performance Measurement:
  • Logic Model (inputs-activities-outputs-outcomes)
  • Performance indicators and reporting “telling your performance story”
  • Continuous Improvement and Integrated Management principle
  • Explain how government bodies are using Performance Measurement (both internally and with service deliverers)
  • Discuss why a non-profit agency MUST use this methodology to remain competitive, and provide you with practical tools to get started
  • Explore how this might change the way your program is delivered

For Program Directors, Managers and Frontline workers alike, this workshop explores the opportunities and the challenges of applying outcome-based methodologies to the non-profit sector and to settlement programs specifically. Participants will leave with a good understanding of Outcome-based Performance Measurement and a step-by-step guide outlining how to apply the methodology to their program.
