Focus5: TRIEC Toolkit: Innovative Tools and Programs for Immigrant Employment
TRIEC creates and champions solutions to better integrate skilled immigrants into the Greater Toronto Region labour market. In this session, learn about the different programs, tools and resources which make up the TRIEC toolkit. These were developed with the intent of supporting skilled immigrants in becoming job-ready and achieve success in the Canadian workplace. In this session, you will learn how the TRIEC toolkit can be used:
- By your clientsto support development of job readiness and success skills,
- By a professional such as yourselfas a learning resource to enhance and promote individual cultural competence,
- By leaders and employersto support promotion and development of culturally competent work teams within your organization
Experience a sampler of learning activities during this session. Handouts with relevant information regarding TRIEC videos, discussion and self-study guides, workshops and Professional Immigrant Networks will be provided.
Rose DeVeyra, Research and Curriculum Developer. Rose joined TRIEC in September 2010 as the research and curriculum developer helping to create new workshops and other resources for employers. She brings over 12 years experience as an adult educator, leadership and career coach.
Racquel Sevilla, Manager, Program Development. Racquel joined TRIEC in September 2007. In her first role at TRIEC, Racquel managed relationships with employers and stakeholders in Toronto. In her current role, she is responsible for the development, project management and implementation of new programs and initiatives. Her current initiative involves working collaboratively with professional immigrant networks to build their capacity to connect members to employment.
